Dr Shveta Bali was born and raised in India. She completed her medical school and initial ophthalmology training at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. After moving to Canada, she completed her second Ophthalmology Residency at the renowned Ottawa Eye Institute. Having completed fellowships in refractive surgery (Gimbel Eye Center, Calgary, Canada) and Glaucoma (University of Manitoba, Canada), she is extensively trained and is passionate about providing the best care to her patients. She has also worked in Iqaluit, Nunavut, providing medical and surgical care to the area.
Dr Bali is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with a special interest in cataract surgery, cornea/external diseases, medical glaucoma and medical retina. She is highly experienced after having worked in multiple heath sectors across different countries and health care institutions.
Throughout her career, Dr Bali has had excellent academic achievements. She served as Chief Resident during her residency tenure at Ottawa. Dr Bali has several research papers published in various international journals of repute as well as textbook chapters. She completed a Research Fellowship at the Vision Eye Institute, Sydney, Australia and their group is credited with many of the first publications on results of femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery in “Ophthalmology’, the journal of American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr Bali enjoys medical education and has been involved in teaching medical students, ophthalmic technicians and residents. She has also served as an examiner for the Medical Council of Canada.
Dr Bali is fluent in English, Hindi and Punjabi. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two beautiful daughters.
